		2/22/02 Second Networking Plus Event Draws a Remarkable Crowd SHBN's second "Networking Plus" event, sponsored by The Store Restaurant in Basking Ridge, drew a remarkable and enthusiastic crowd of both large and small businesses. Former U.S. Representative Mike Pappas, representing the U.S. Small Business Administration, spoke briefly about the SBA's history and about its current role in helping post-September 11 recovery efforts. He pointed out that the organization's program had been extended beyond the immediate disaster area to assist businesses anywhere in the country hurt by the events, including the airport shutdowns. Under the program, the SBA provides loan guarantees for loans of between $5000 and $10 million. Ron Jervis, general manager of Store Restaurant, described the restaurant's evolution over the past 30 years under the same ownership, and gave out wooden nickels good for a free drink or dessert at the restaurant. Susan Schumann of the Millington Savings Bank described her bank's new services to businesses, including a free courier pickup for deposits within a 10-mile radius of any local branch. Approximately 35 other individuals, representing 29 different businesses ranging from American Express Financial Advisors to solo-practitioner consulting firms, introduced their companies.
